@bunmisupreme: We just have to me socially aware than this. I would never do nothing to distract a diasporic holiday so why are we always on the receiving end of this weird ritualistic like behavior

Im a Texan and As a kid I remember only seeing Juneteenth being celebrated by only blk Texans and the only reason why Juneteenth became a holiday celebrated by the rest of the states in America is if I remember it correctly was because of usher one day shouting out happy Juneteenth on a show or something to texans because he’s from Texas. Before that the rest of blk Americans in the other states and the rest of the diaspora didn’t celebrate or know nothing of the history of Juneteenth and why BLK TEXANS celebrated it.

Number one everybody needs to get out their fucking emotions those people over there have no idea of what we going through over here because none of us are intelligent enough emotionally intelligent enough to take a fucking plane. Go over there and start building schools and educating them instead we complain about what they don’t know and I love being a black American, but I’m tired of us complaining all the time if they don’t know go fucking teach them. Secondly, if you wanna recognize the trials and tribulations of slavery during Juneteenth, there’s no written rules that you can’t do that you can talk about the history of slavery during Juneteenth and talk about the celebration of freedom all at the same time.

Can you believe someone told me “I’m not from Texas so I guess I shouldn’t celebrate” during a discussion about pan African colors on Juneteenth branding

i mean that’s what our ancestors endured? if their suffering makes you uncomfortable then that’s a good thing cause it was still doesn’t take away from the amazing things they still did and the life they gave us

Good point but I think on the other side it could be a form of ritualized processing. Like a way of allowing those emotions to be felt and expressed so that the energy can be transmuted into greater freedom. Shamanic in a way

Ghana have BEEN advocating for trans-Atlantic slave trade to be recognized as a crime against humanity. This is their way of doing the work to advocate for reparations while allowing space for Black Americans to rest and celebrate. That’s allyship.
