If Alberta had the same representation as the Atlantic provinces we wouldn’t have a liberal majority now.

If Albertans want to have a greater say in how the country is run they have a number of options. Make Alberta attractive enough that more Canadians want to move there and elect MP’s that actually value your vote and will work to make Canada better for all instead of the current MP’s that know you will elect them and do nothing for you.

But the real big thing for me is the lack of fiscal restraint by federal government constantly giving money trying to keep buying votes to stay in Power somehow that should just be illegal and so wrong

Separation will undeniably lead to measurable economic, trade, and social challenges. Take Brexit for example; Economic analyses estimate that leaving the EU reduced U.K. GDP by up to 8%, hindered productivity, and depressed business investment due to trade barriers and labor shortages.

My mother was in Sundre yesterday. She said the separatists held their own parade/slow roll/car tantrum. Interestingly, once she got to her event no one supported separatism.

PEO has a population of 120000 and three MP’s. In Alberta it’s 115000. People for one MP.

I don’t see why Alberta can’t have a vote to see what the majority wants. If it comes out that it separates then we need to talk about it. If turn out that the majority wants to stay then there is nothing to talk about it’s done

The Alberta economy is only fourth in terms of income. If you want to vote when Ontario votes, why don’t you have election three hours earlier?. it makes no difference. You have received so much money from the federal government. It’s sickening.

1. most separatists think it's unfair because AB always votes conservative but it's unfair that ON and QC don't. 2. Based on what the UCP is planning new AB ridings should be hybrid ridings sharing areas within BC, NWT, Nunavut, and SK so representation is fair.

I’m a born and raised Albertan and I don’t agree with separation and I’m surprised all this noise has gotten this far. However, we should be allowed to pull out of the equalization program. It’s not fair and I’m tired of watching other provinces benefit from our tax contributions.

Alberta has 11% of the population of Canada and 10% of the seats in the house. Ontario has about 40% of the population 35% of the seats. How much more say should we get to make it "fair"?

I have not heard a genuine argument yet but I really try not to talk politics in the province, they think if we are proud Canadians, we are extreme liberals, I’ve only met the ones who hate Canada like PP, did you see his response to Ireland welcoming carney? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just point out to them that I’m a leftist minority Albertan, where is my provincial representation? It’s the exact same thing they whine about so shuts them up every time.

Yeah…. But……. You’re ignoring the fact that Alberta has had an all out assault on its economy by the eastern elected Federal Liberal Government. That’s the real issue I believe. It’s undeniable that Federal Government over reach into provincial matters has been epic with this Liberal Government. Liberal appointed judges have made questionable rulings that contradict the division of power. You’re also ignoring the fact that any Federal election is basically won once the Ontario election results are in and there is no system of checks and balances such as an equal elected functional senate to counter harmful Federal legislation. You’re also wrong when you say BC’s economy is larger than Alberta’s. A simple Google search clearly tells you that even though BC’s population is a bit larger, its GDP is lower. You’re also ignoring the fact that Albertans pay way more into equalization than any other provincial tax payer per capita, but receive the least in Federal benefits. Genuinely a fault if the equalization formula Harper, an Albertan put in place. Regardless, that is a bone of contention. Canadians pay more taxes, have a lower standard of living, unaffordable housing, a stagnant economy, and an intrusive Federal government putting in legislation such as Bill C-9 that erode Canadians freedom of speech and excerpt more and more control by the Federal Government over what we say and hear by the media. Sorry sir, but your way off base on what the real issues Albertans really have with confederation. Talk to the Quebec separatist, and their issues do parallel the Albertans issues, but diverge when it comes to language and culture. Oh, throw in the Federal Government’s immigration policies over the last decade or so as well as a common complaint as well. It’s very complicated and requires a lot of discussion and changes within Canada to resolve.
