I had to learn how to drive a straight shift/manual car because “one day I may be stranded and the only vehicle available was a manual”. I learned to drive in the 80s and have yet to be stranded with only a manual.

I did actually visit a beach as a kid with quicksand... It's the only time I've ever come across it and it was well signposted anyway!
