the riddle-giver jumps into the river and swims forcefully upstream. he could take the easy way and cross alone, but this is cheating. so the bridge-crosser jumps in and attempts to follow, but he is weak, the current is strong, and he fails. returning to the bridge, he is told that by merely making a sincere attempt, he has succeeded.

I haven’t seen a post from you in a while but I believe that was a key to solving the riddle. I didn’t question the video when I saw it, I simply accepted it for what it was. Nothing special, nothing overly excessive. Just another video as I scroll. Just as a wave flows in the ocean, this video flows though my FYP. Thank you Harmonica. Keep doing amazingly I love the progress

I believe the meaning behind this is that life will always make you make a choice. To attain what you want you will always have to make the harder choice. He followed the riddle master, possibly believing the answer belonged in the choice that the riddle-master made. Even though the man was not able to swim upstream no matter how much he tried, the flow of life took him on the path that was meant for him. He could have walked across believing he did not need to make such a drastic choice, and yet he still chose to dive into a river of unknowingness. If he simply walked, I believe he would have failed this riddle. Nonetheless, he made a choice, the scariest and hardest one, and he was rewarded with the opportunity to move forward.
