@thesameerproject: Families go to sleep knowing that the small bag of flour, rice, or lentils tucked away is all that stands between their kids and hunger. Then imagine waking up to find it destroyed. Containers chewed through. Food contaminated. Precious supplies scattered and ruined by rats during the night. Food that took weeks to find, food you cannot simply replace, food your children were depending on. As garbage piles up and raw sewage flows through overcrowded camps, rodent infestations have become a growing crisis. Families live in constant fear that the little they have managed to save will be lost overnight. When borders can close without warning and food is increasingly difficult to obtain, every handful of flour, grains, matters. And the fear that in an instant between the decisions of the occupation and the gnawing of the rats, everything can get worse. The Sameer Project’s team is trying to explore safe and practical solutions that can help reduce rodent infestations in camps and shelters. From sanitation efforts to rodent control measures, we are searching for options that are both effective and safe for the families who live there.
