When we lift heavy weights and continuously so, even though we may lift through an incredible range of motion, our muscles fatigue or experience micro-damages to the muscles (DOMs), your brain then commands the muscles to stay partially contracted as a protective measure. This is when we experience stiffness in our muscles. When this happens, we may experience challenges in moving in a particular way or direction. One of the reasons why my client @DJ SADIC came to me was a discomfort he would experience at the back of his shoulder just where the shoulder blade attaches to the upper arm (teres major). We have addressed this in a couple of sessions, and he now can press comfortably. The best part of this is that his shoulder mobility has also greatly improved. In this session, I mainly focused on releasing tension not only of the teres major but all the other surrounding muscles because no one muscle works alone!
