Despite her flaws, Snow was a good person; however, I don't feel that her willingness to forgive Regina stemmed solely from her goodness. It was also because she genuinely seemed to love Regina as her stepmother, and—despite everything Regina did—I believe that feeling never completely vanished. Even in moments when Snow felt the most hatred toward Regina, that love for the woman who raised her remained, even though Regina hadn't been a particularly good stepmother. This is clearly illustrated in the scene where she could have killed Regina but stopped herself, telling David she couldn't do it because Regina had raised her. I love how complex a character Snow is and how motherhood is central to her entire characterization; it influences her behavior, her decisions, and how she shows love—she is very maternal toward Regina once they become friends again in Storybrooke, even though she is younger and was the stepdaughter. She is a daughter without a mother, a mother without a daughter, and a stepdaughter rejected by the stepmother she obviously loved—and who, deep down, hoped Regina felt the same way.
