👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I think it’s definitely an unpopular opinion, BUT I feel like it’s the most realistic with how people would feel. I have toys I regret giving up as a kid/teen and I can’t get them back, at least not the same exact ones. I think Emily went through the same thing that many of us go through as we get older and the creators highlighting that is beautiful! Pixar is all about giving both us and the characters what we need, not what we want through their stories. The ending was perfect!

I like the route they took because it’s more realistic. Many people that donate their stuff never see it again. Many people that move don’t somehow have their toys come back to them. So this makes sense. If they did this in Toy Story 4, with Emily wandering into the antique store, maybe but the impact wouldn’t have been the same. And also its closure without beating us over the head with it. It’s not a face to face with Emily, but it’s still something Jessie the toy can accept and live with—which is more than some humans get as closure. Maybe we’ll get that return of Andy with his own kids in Toy Story 6 at the end of Bonnie’s story—because Andy’s mom technically still lives nearby. So for Buzz and Jessie to still find their way back into his family could still be possible.

I am mad that they never did this, Jessie could have had closure and have a choice either stay with Bonnie or reunite with Emily the ending seems forced we were cheated out of a good storyline for toy story 5 just like we were cheated out of the storyline for wish

by the way there's a strong theory going on that Andy's mom is Jesse because both of them have blonde hair and both of them have the blue eyes and Andy's mom somewhat looked like the photo of Jessie. So in the end she did end up for a while with Emily's grandson in the sense if the theory is true

I personally would have loved Emily giving her granddaughter the Jessie doll because I don’t feel like Toy story had had a generational hand me down toy and it could have been cute to see a start of one. I got a stuffed bear from my gram that she had for years and I remember carrying it around everywhere until it ripped. Seeing something like that would have been adorable at least to me. However I can see how that wouldn’t work for the story. But it’s still cute.

haven't seen it and don't care much about spoilers but I agree and to me all the people who want Andy to take the toy back don't realize how much that would cheapen the message of the third movie

I think it makes a lot of sense and parallels to toy story fans who've grown up with the films and are now parents like Emily's age get to see from their old toys' perspective of how they've grown up and have kids of their own to either pass the toys on to or give them closure to the toys they had to let go of. Making Emily older than millennial audiences would kinda miss the point...

Unfortunately it feels like you can kind of tell they planned this? I love the reveal but there’s just so much buildup for a photo and a tree carving that they stay on for two seconds before it’s undercut by the main plot.

I feel like they should do that in the six movie but they might wait a little longer and that they bring Andy back. Who’s technically still in college then I don’t know because Emilys daughter Jesse is still a young kid right now so she hasn’t grown yet to have children. So basically that sounds like a good storyline that she could introduce Jesse to her grandchildren.

Next story line: Andy founds his old toys and decides to keep them but this time as a toy collector. Why? Because I can see, well as myself too, I now collect the old toys that I used to have and keeping them, and letting my kids play them.

I feel like this changed this b/c they probably want Andy to have his reuniting moment after this. So having it happened twice back-to-back would be lessen the impact.

At this point just give the toys to some other kid or make them lost toys like Woody bc F Bonnie dude she's realistic but good lord does it ruin the franchise when it's supposed to be about imagination and children playing with toys when that doesn't happen anymore
