Why are more and more people leaving church? This overlooked truth is causing believers to lose hope. If you have ever been hurt by a church, or even started to doubt God because of it, please listen until the end. First: Many people do not leave God first. They become disappointed with people first. Many people once attended church with great passion. But later, they experienced: conflict in the church, judgement, division, hypocrisy, and even the fall of church leaders. Then they begin to think: “If church is really like this, does God even exist?” But please remember: People can fail. God does not fail. Do not walk away from the Lord who has never left you because of human weakness. Second: Many churches are no longer truly nourishing people’s spiritual lives. In many places today, there is less and less preaching about: repentance, the cross, holiness, the return of the Lord Jesus, God’s judgement, and the genuine work of the Holy Spirit. More often, people hear messages about: how to succeed, how to be happy, and how to achieve their dreams. But these things cannot truly transform a life. If someone goes for a long time without receiving real spiritual food, they will naturally become colder and colder in faith. The Bible says: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4, KJV When a person’s spiritual life is not being nourished, their hunger for God will gradually fade. Third, and most importantly: The real question is not whether you go to church. The real question is whether you are still following Christ. The Lord Jesus never said: Follow a denomination. Follow a pastor. Follow an organisation. He said: “Follow me.” Matthew 4:19, KJV People can change. People can fail. But Christ never changes. So, do not give up on God because people have failed. And do not stop seeking the truth because of problems in the church. If this message has reminded you today, write: “Lord, please guard my heart.” Share it with someone who has been hurt by church and is now drifting away from God. People make mistakes, but God’s Word will always be truth.
