You are exactly right. I get bored after they do the deed, especially if the plot is not plotting enough. Might as well just be a fantasy novel at that point. And if the plot and side characters are not good enough to hold my attention I want to DNF if they get together too quick.

See my problem is, in my goblin brain I THINK I want the spice to happen right away, BUT when it does it’s not satisfying. It gives me the ick and I’m immediately disinterested. You’ve gotta put in WORK for the spice to hit right. I know this, but I keep thinking I can achieve that the lazy way; NEWS FLASH it never hits when it’s easy. 😅

I love slow burns because I feel like the romance/friendship needs to be earned. I feel like a lot of people incorrectly say everything is a slow burn when it's NOT. I think your video is spot on, if they IMMEDIATELY are together in the first book in a 1+ series, it's NOT a slow burn.

Sometimes people are too quick to say it's a slow burn. Then I go to read it and the characters are together too quickly. Like hang on, my definition must be off if this is a slow burn. 🤔🤔🤔
