Perched high above Dublin, it’s steeped in history and legend! 🏰🌲 📍 Distance: 4 km / 2.5 miles ⏱️ Time: 1 – 1.5 hours 🚶 Route: Start at the Hellfire Club car park on the R115; follow the marked forest trails uphill to the summit, explore the ruined lodge, and then loop back down. ✨ What you’ll see: Dense spruce and beech woods, rocky uneven ground, and sweeping panoramic views over Dublin city and bay, along with purple heather and furze. Don't miss the eerie stone shell of the 18th-century hunting lodge! 💡 Fun fact: The lodge was built around 1725 as a private shooting lodge on top of an ancient burial cairn. It was later associated with the infamous Hellfire Club, a secret society full of wild tales, ghost stories, and even the legend of the “man with cloven hooves”! 👟 Tip: Make sure to wear sturdy boots — the paths can be gravelly and slippery when wet.
