Sometimes kids care they just don’t know how to express that they care or what they want. Example my son (9) always ask for the same hair cut. So the last time we went to the barber I took a screen shot of a few trendy haircuts. I asked him if he liked any of the screenshots and let him choose what he wanted. He ended up choosing one and said it’s the best haircut he’s ever had. He wanted the trendy hair but didn’t know how to ask for it.

My mom was bipolar and super checked out, I got bullied horribly but was really successful in college/after once I had more autonomy. What you’re doing is AMAZING for your children, your daughters are so lucky. You’re setting them up for a very successful and hopeful life 💕

I’m also a teacher and I have three kids 14, 12, 10 and the first couple of videos irked me but I had to admit all of this is true. My kids are sort of a Ferris Bueller really smart type but so fun, really shy and quiet creative, and then my youngest is your typical super popular, super savvy, fashionable sweetheart. Kids are all different but sometimes you just need to show up with the bags of clothes from the mall and tell them “here are your clothes” 😜 because they really will try to wear that favorite hoodie daily if you don’t intervene.

I don’t think you can understand the humiliation of not fitting in unless you were bullied as a child, as I was for not having the right shoes or the right clothes or the right hairstyle. My son does not give one single flip about any of this, but I care very much on his behalf. I love the way you framed this as “evening the playing field” because he is quirky also and I’ll do anything that helps him in that way.

I would like to hear your opinion on Snapchat and TikTok. My daughter is going to be 13 in November. I know a lot of the more popular kids in her class have both Snapchat and TikTok.

Mom of 4 here --You are right! 100%! Those parents who say they don't care, seem to be coming from their own negative experiences, even if they don't realize it or won't acknowledge it. Kids need all the help they can get because how others react to you , helps to form your own ideas about how you feel about yourself! School is their world and you don't want them to receive negative attention which can cause them to have negative feelings about themselves and school. I too still research and look for things my grown children need to know as what's a good trend ...why?-because I love them and want them to be "in the loop" and feel positive about their appearance and self worth!

💯! I love your content! My son is going into middle school this coming school year and I think about all these things! One thing I was thinking about was lunch and lunch boxes! One of your posts said they are still using them but very basic dark colored lunch boxes lol

My 11 years old twin girls are starting middle school and I’m yet to discuss relationships with them, they’re still very naive in that area. I know I need to talk to them before school starts and before other kids do. I’ve put it off, scared they won’t be babies anymore! 😭 Any advice?
