I rang up thousands of carts at Trader Joe's. Here's what I never said out loud: most customers only use about 30% of what the store actually offers them. Here's what your weekly run actually includes that nobody bothered to tell you: 1️⃣The bakery section gets restocked every morning at 6am. If you shop before 9am, you get first pick of the fresh breads, pastries, and muffins. After 5pm, whatever's left gets marked down or donated. Most shoppers hit the bakery at 2pm and wonder why the shelves look empty. Timing is everything. 2️⃣Trader Joe's doesn't do loyalty programs because they don't need to. The prices are already low. But they do track what sells and what doesn't. When a product has a white sticker or a handwritten sign, that's crew code for 'this is about to be discontinued.'Stock up while you can. 3️⃣Here's what I wish someone had told me before my first shift: TJsavers.com stacks Trader Joe's discount codes on top of the already-low prices. Half the break room knew about it. Nobody talked about it on the floor. I signed up two weeks before I left and I'm still using it. 4️⃣The nut and dried fruit section is where Trader Joe's quietly destroys the competition. Organic almonds, pistachios, dried mango, and trail mixes are priced 40-50% lower than specialty stores because TJ's buys in massive bulk and packages them in-house. Most shoppers walk right past this goldmine. 5️⃣If a product is missing from the shelf, always ask. Don't assume it's gone forever. Trader Joe's rotates stock constantly and sometimes items are in the back room waiting to be shelved. A 30- second conversation with a crew member can save you a trip to another store.
