do not caulk the bottom of the base. it must be left unsealed in the event of a leak in the pipe in wall and for moisture and humidity to escape

Sweet Jesus !! Where do I begin ??? Never, never, never, spray soap water on a caulking bead !!!!! Why do you use soap ? Because the caulking won't stick to your finger, right ? Well, guess what ? Now the caulking edges won't stick to the surface either and will turn black within weeks. Also, why is your caulking bead so thick ?? You're wiping off 75% of what you applied !!

Cut the tip at an angle, use 1/4 the calk you put down. When the jobs done and you still have 3/4 of a tube of calk put a screw in the end and wrap it with tape so that you can reuse it at another job or when you need to touch it up after the kids peel it off.
