Do not get all the ML hate from the people. Both of them are so pitiful, how can you even compare one's misery with the other? The ML's brother and their entire cavalry got wiped out, not much different from the FL losing her mother and the people from the academy. It doesn't become better just because one realises their despair and one doesn't. He doesn't even resent her for not telling him about the decree - he started to doubt himself and think that she's being forced to be with him because she doesn't trust him enough to tell these things to him. The FL doesn't fight back against the divorce either. And he comes back running the next episode.
