The innocence of women in the past is honestly the most heartbreaking thing about history. Can you imagine being 16 and not being able to understand the veracity of the situation you had just been in. People were screaming in the water. The ship disappeared into the ocean. And this woman at 16 just thought it was part of the trip. The way they kept us purposefully obtuse and nieve is why I love the movie because Rose was the opposite and that’s what’s truly romantic about the movie the fact that a 17 year old girl was intelligent cunning and brave in a time when woman couldn’t be.
