Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I miss when social media was mostly about creativity, storytelling, humor, and connecting with people. Somewhere along the way it became all about monetization, algorithms, and payouts.
I understand being frustrated when income changes, but hearing creators constantly complain about only making a few hundred dollars from posting videos can come across as out of touch to people working traditional jobs, multiple jobs, or struggling to make ends meet.
Views and engagement aren’t a guaranteed paycheck. Platforms change, trends change, and audiences change. Creating content should still be about creating content, not just what it pays or complaining about it. Perhaps this is a conversation you’d be better off having with another creator experiencing the same as you. The internet feels a lot less fun when every post is treated like a commission check, when most of us are struggling even with a good solid job.
