TW: Talk about sickness When I shared our little travel day vlog, so many of you noticed E wearing travel sickness bands and asked two things: 💬 How on earth did I get him to wear them? 💬 And did they actually work? So here’s the honest answer - One thing about my AuDHD boy is he loves anything ✨ new ✨ so I wasn’t too worried about getting them onto his wrists. What I was worried about was whether he’d keep them on, or decide they needed to be worn his(!) way because of his PDA traits 🥴 But he surprised me ❤️ He wore them exactly as they should be and kept them on for the whole journey. The only time he took them off was when he went to sleep, which was absolutely fine 🤷‍♀️ As someone who’s AuDHD myself and had awful travel sickness growing up, I know these bands can be really sensory. That constant pressure on your wrists isn’t the nicest feeling. But for me, feeling travel sick was always far worse than wearing them! And I honestly think E felt the same 🙌 Now for the big question… did they work? YES! 🎉 No sickness at all! I’d already had high hopes because they worked brilliantly for me as a kid, but I was still so relieved to see them help E too 😮‍💨 I did try giving him over the counter travel sickness medicine first, but like a lot of neurodivergent kids, medicines are something we really struggle with 💊 I think what helped most was keeping it fun. Calling them his ninja bands just made them feel more exciting and tried to keep it funny when he kicked one of his Crocs off doing his ninja moves 😂 SO! Do your little ones get travel sick? What’s worked best for you? 💛 Share them in the comments as it might help another parent of a travel sick kiddo out 🚗✈️
