Girl! I've always felt this intense attachment and fascination with early 2000s and particularly internet culture. And I've always thought that was because it was my own childhood and coming of age, but when I realized that I'm AuDHD 2 years ago, part of that reflection on my entire life, I realized how all the aesthetics and logics of that period were intensely compatible and even supportive for my growth, these conditions literally eased the trauma of growing up neurodivergent without knowing it.

I think the ethos of y2k futurism also aligns with neurodivergent values because it was like a second space-age, anything felt possible and cultural norms progressed more quickly than ever. People felt like humanity was evolving toward unity but that’s just our default setting.
