Abandoned At Known Dumping Ground, Lab Mix Is Found Starving & Suffering From GUNSHOT WOUND... Wyatt was discovered at a known dump site in Houston, TX. With his back left leg broken and visibly swollen, he limped alone in the rain, starved and carrying the weight of untold suffering. The person who found Wyatt could see he was nothing but skin and bones. She had some dog food in her car, which she offered it to him. Wyatt devoured it in mere seconds, like the first real meal he’d had in weeks. His finder knew he wouldn’t survive much longer on his own, so she made a desperate plea on Facebook, begging for someone, ANYONE, to help him. No one was going to step up for Wyatt, so we did. We rushed him to the vet in critical condition. X-rays revealed that this poor dog had been SHOT, the 9mm bullet still lodged in his body. The injury was at least two weeks old. His emaciated state suggested that he had been fending for himself for quite some time, with no food or shelter. Every rib was visible, and his flea-ridden fur was filthy from exposure to the elements. Wyatt is currently undergoing surgery in the hopes of repairing his injured leg. He will remain hospitalized for the next few days, receiving around-the-clock care and supervision to ensure he is healing properly. We were in no financial position to take on a medical case like Wyatt’s, but we saw no choice. Without our help, he would have been euthanized in a local shelter. This is Wyatt’s second chance, his only chance, but we can’t do this alone.
