For BEGINNERS discovering Penny Shopping: The penny list gets posted online a day or two before the start of the week. A list usually has barcodes on it so you can double check. Download the Dollar Tree app and you can scan an item while in- store you aren’t sure. Items that ring up “not found” in the app are typically a penny. You can double check this by using one of the in-store scanners or by checking at the register. It’s best to use app because once employees find out about a penny item they have to remove the rest from the shelf. There are base rules for penny shopping that could cause staff to disallow penny shopping. 1.) do NOT argue with staff about it. If it rings a penny and they refuse to sell it, let it go. 2.) do NOT ask them where the penny items are. You have to find them yourself. 3.) do not leave things in a mess. You can go scan crazy in your app if you want but PUT IT BACK. 4.) Do NOT call corporate complaining. Corporate allows penny shopping but if too many people cause too much trouble they can easily change it/ prevent it. 5.) do not announce penny items. Be quiet. Be discreet. Be respectful. I have been able to penny shopping even after discovering a penny item on accident because I’m so respectful and kind to staff. The more respectful the better. Happy Shopping!

So what I’ve gathered from READING THE COMMENTS is once the cashier rings up a penny item they have to clear the shelves of the rest of that item. So for those complaining and asking why she isn’t leaving any for someone else, it’s because once she checks out the associate is going to remove whatever is left of that item so either way you missed out! Atleast this way it’s going to someone and not just in the trash

Yall I worked at family dollar . Once a customer buys a penny item we have to go to where it was and throw all of them out ! So it’s better to just buy them all

Im an asst manager at a dollar tree the reason she gets it all is because we do throw it out we do not change the item if the item is changed its due to a new truck coming in with the new item reset its not something us workers change a few stores may donate it to charity depending on if you live in a small town besides that we have to throw it out so its better to get it all than it going to waste alot of people who buy it all donate it too so stop judging lol its either all or none

I used to think taking it all was greedy and selfish until I realized once the customer checks out a penny item, the employee has to go find the other one and throw them away. She might as well buy them all. At least they’re being used

“this is why i cant find ANYTHING” so actually, stores restock! shes just like any other shopper. stop judging her over doing the same thing everybody does. and if your store doesnt have what you like, im sorry but either go to a new one or wait for the restock.
