Island Adventures in Scotland As we approach summer, Scotland’s islands open up like never before. With calmer seas, along with warmer (and longer) days - there can be few better places in the world to explore. But which ones to pick? We’ve rounded up some of our favourites and for all the best locations to visit and insider advice - check out of digital map of Scotland. 1. Skye - Home of famous screensaver sights like the Old Man of Storr, The Quiraing, Fairy Pools etc. While summer can be busy, the more hidden gems still offer a sense of remoteness 2. St Kilda - The UK’s most remote island (and for good reason). A trip here to understand its fascinating history is a memorable one 3. Iona - A small island, but one that packs a punch with some of the country’s best beaches, turquoise waters and the infamous Iona Abbey 4. Isle of Lewis - Head here to step back in time at sights like the Calanais Standing Stones, or enjoy its beaches and wildlife 5. Staffa & Lunga - The magic of Fingal’s Cave awaits here, while a short boat ride on to Lunga will bring you closer to puffins than anywhere else 6. Isle of Mull - The island that has it all including our favourite harbour town - Tobermory - and the best whale watching 7. Barra & Vatersay - You’ll like come for the incredible beaches like Traigh Shiar, but stay for the walks and to see the planes take off at Traigh Mhòr 8. Luing & Scarba - Luing is a place to escape the crowds, meet the wildlife and slow down, with uninhabited islands (like Scarba) on your doorstep 9. Islay - You can’t beat the whisky on offer here from Ardbeg to Laphroig and Bowmore and there’s more than drams to enjoy too 10. Isle of Harris - Where great local food, white sands and endless sunsets are always on the menu Which is your favourite island? #Scotland #hiddenscotland #visitscotland #scotlandtravel #ScotlandExplore
