because he felt pressured to do so. which wasn’t ribbit’s fault, he just thought he was ready and said it, but he wasn’t. that’s all. he lashed out afterwards because he was scared about oversharing.

A lot of people keep mentioning about jax thought ribbit would use that information against him but that was literally just him emotionally manipulating her to avoid her in any way he can. Jax is an allegory for the ugly side of trauma. He couldn't change, he became a slave to his nature. He never wanted to feel what he felt with his parents ever again and he thought that opening up would lead to the people around him to get hurt just like his mother did. He refused any chance he got to be better but he didn't WANT to take any chances.
