Career advice from a serial life pivoter. 👊🏾 From White Collar to Pink Collar — Ep. 2 Take it from someone who’s lived a few lives already: isolation is not as progressive or productive as we’ve been led to believe. Will you get things done? Probably. But when you finally land that new role, the real work begins. Too often, you realize you never paused long enough to breathe and reconnect. Burnout is real. And research shows that play, social engagement, and shared experiences are some of the most effective ways we process stress, and sometimes avoid it altogether. In 32 years, I’ve been a musician, nonprofit program manager, server, financial analyst, ministry president, cloud developer, talent manager, and now a wellness and fitness professional. But the most fulfilling role I’ll ever play is villager. That’s the main reason I’m so comfortable pivoting when I need to. My why for the work I do is adaptable to what the people around me need. That’s not a call for everyone to live the same way. It is an invitation to consider whether making room for other people might be the missing link to deeper fulfillment. The past six months could have gone very differently. I could’ve stayed home refreshing LinkedIn and attending virtual career fairs. Instead, staying engaged with the world gave me the clarity and confidence move into fitness. I wouldn’t be managing a fitness studio today without other people, after just 1ish months into (f)unemployment. There was still real work to be done. In ep. 3, I’ll break down the education and research that it took for me to be qualifiedand how different forms of learning became part of the pivot. See you next week! 💪🏾🩷 #cpt #wellnesscoach #whitecollar #pinkcollar #careeradvice
