@deepdiveoutside: We are talking a deep dive into backpacking water bottles I guess. #backpacking #ultralightbackpacking #backpackinggear #beginnerbackpackertips
I feel like smartwater could lean into their cult status with backpackers and make their own upgraded bottle

You can take my Nalgene out of my cold, dead, well hydrated hands.

I liked the Nalgene simply because it doubled as a hot water bottle at the foot of my sleeping bag at night. But it was a pain to drink out of for sure

Recently took the thrubottle 1000 with me on the JMT. I’m a big fan, but the threads make it so it doesn’t really work with my filter and I basically have to hold it in place because it doesn’t thread enough to hold itself. I also noticed that compared to a regular smart bottle, the liquid in the cnoc warms up a lot faster, which makes sense because of the translucent material, but wasn’t something I considered when buying it.

Learned first hand that SmartWater bottles don’t last to rigors of multi days of backpacking. 3 days out on trail & SmartWater bottle cracked.

Isn’t the MIGo designed to be a Nalgene replacement because you can put boiling water in it?

I recently switched from smart bottles to Miranda bottles, and I love them. I know they are a little bit heavier, but it’s actually a good bottle that you can open wide and clean better. It’s totally a plus for me.

I thought I would like the CNOC bottle best, because it was the most similar to a Smart water bottle, but I found the NOBO bottle, being shorter, sits better in my pack's angled side pockets. Taller bottles tend to slip out when I bend over.

Have you seen any evidence of Smart bottles doing harm by shedding micro plastics? It seems implausible to me and in the absence of convincing evidence, it should probably be ignored.

I just ordered the cnoc collapsible water bottle. Any thoughts on those? I am hoping they work for extra water storage for my dog to carry in his pack.

Nobo fan here. I like the size more as it falls over way less than the Cnoc. But they are both great options.

I know the MiGO can handle boiling wate. Can the others? I might be interested in replacing my winter nalgene with one of these. Dont see myself ditching smart water bottles for three season use.

I personally love using Mickey’s Hand Grenades. Wide mouth,Green color lets little light in, and I simply just love the name and puzzles.
