@w.edits082: One lesser-known aspect of Catholic belief about Jesus Christ is the idea of the “Threefold Office of Christ” (Munus Triplex). According to Catholic theology, Jesus fulfills three roles at the same time: Prophet, Priest, and King. As Prophet, Jesus reveals God’s truth to humanity. He does not simply deliver a message from God; He is the eternal Word of God made flesh. Everything He teaches reveals the Father’s will and leads people toward salvation. As Priest, Jesus offers the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. Unlike the priests of the Old Testament, who repeatedly offered animal sacrifices, Jesus offered Himself once and for all on the cross. Catholics believe this one sacrifice is made present in every Mass, not repeated, but sacramentally re-presented. As King, Jesus reigns not through political power but through truth, justice, mercy, and love. His kingdom is spiritual and eternal. Catholics believe that Christ already reigns in heaven and in the hearts of believers, while His kingdom will be fully revealed at the end of time. A fascinating detail is that Catholics believe all baptized Christians share in these three offices of Christ in a limited way. Through baptism, a Christian is called to proclaim the faith like a prophet, offer his life to God like a priest, and serve others with charity and responsibility like a king. This teaching is ancient, important in Catholic theology, and surprisingly unknown to many Christians themselves.#jesus #christianity #christ
