“I am the good shepherd… I came so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:11–18) If we are honest, a lot of people today do not feel like they are living an abundant life. We scroll, we compare, we chase productivity, we try to keep up, and yet we still feel tired, distracted, or not enough. The world is loud, and everywhere we turn there is a voice telling us how to live. And the truth is, we are always listening to something. Sometimes it is obvious. Sometimes it is quiet. But little by little, we start to follow these voices and give them power over us. Without even realizing it, they begin to shape how we see ourselves and how we live our lives. The danger is that it is so easy to follow a voice that leads nowhere. A voice can sound convincing, even attractive, but still leave us feeling empty in the end. It can push us to keep going but never really tell us where we are going. It can promise fulfillment but only give pressure, comparison, and restlessness. That is why Jesus does not simply say He is a shepherd. He says He is the Good Shepherd. Not every voice that calls you is meant to guide you. The Good Shepherd knows you personally. Not the version of you that others see, not the version you try to present, but the real you. He does not rush you or pressure you. He calls you with patience and with love. And even more, He does not run away when things get difficult. He stays. In a world where it is easy to be left behind or forgotten, this kind of presence is already a blessing. Then He says something that can change how we see everything. He says that He came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. Abundance does not mean a life without struggles. It does not mean everything will go your way. It means a life that is full even in the middle of uncertainty. A life where you are not empty even when things are not perfect. Sometimes we miss our blessings because we expect them to look big or extraordinary. But often, they are simple and quiet. They are found in the strength to keep going when you feel weak, in the peace that comes even when you do not understand everything, in the presence of people who stay, and in the grace of being able to begin again. Maybe the awakening for us today is this. We are not lost because there is no voice guiding us. We are lost because we listen to too many voices that do not truly lead. Jesus is still speaking. His voice may not be the loudest, but it is the one that brings peace, direction, and real fullness. And maybe today, the invitation is simple. To slow down. To listen again. And to recognize the voice that has been gently calling you all along. 🤍
