KWABENYA TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY CONDEMNATION OF THE PURPORTED INSTALLATION OF A CHIEF BY THE LEADERSHIP OF KRISTO ASAFO AND THE UNFORTUNATE SHOOTING INCIDENT INVOLVING THE FORMER MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT The Kiabenya Traditional Authority has learned with great disappointment and concern of the purported installation of a chief by the leadership of Kristo Asafo without any prior consultation, notification, or engagement with the Kwabenya Traditional Authority. As the recognized custodian of the customs. traditions, and chieftaincy affairs within the Kwabenya Traditional Area, the Authority considers such actions inappropriate and contrary to the established traditional protocols governing the installation and recognition of chiefs within our jurisdiction The Authority wishes to place on record that it was neither informed of nor involved in the said installation. We therefore urge all individuals, groups, and institutions operating within the traditional area to respect the authority of the traditional leadership and adhere to the accepted customary processes in matters relating to chieftaincy. The Kwabenya Traditional Authority is equally disturbed by reports of the unfortunate discharge of firearms and the alleged shooting incident involving the former Member of Parliament for the constituency. Such acts of violence have no place in a civilized society and undermine the peace, security. and unity that the people of Kwabenya have worked hard to maintain. The Authority strongly condemns the actions of any persons found to have engaged in violence or conduct capable of endangering lives and property. We call upon the appropriate security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and ensure that all persons responsible are dealt with in accordance with the laws of Ghana. The Kwabenya Traditional Authority remains committed to maintaining peace, law, order, and respeet for both customary and statutory institutions. We therefore appeal to all parties involved to exercise restraint. avoid inflammatory actions and statements, and cooperate fully with the relevant authorities.
