I’ve been both my heaviest and leanest in these past (nearly) five years. I can say I’ve finally found my happy place in terms of the lifestyle / weight / physique that works for me. (Hint: it’s not about being my leanest or training hard 5 / 6 days a week. It’s about strength and balance) It’s been a transformation in every sense of the word. And the journey is always evolving... how I train today is different than what it was even a few years ago. Here’s a few of my takeaways: * You really can control your physique through macros, training and consistency at any age…our bodies are amazing and responsive. * It’s not required that your hormones be balanced to lose weight or build muscle. * Being REALLY lean kind of sucks. My energy, hormones and mood suffered. * Training 4x week with intensity and using progressive overload is my sweet spot. More doesn’t necessarily equal more and overtraining is counter productive. * Recovery matters A LOT. This is where the magic happens and without it, my progress really took a hit. * Cardio matters. Even if building muscle is the primary goal, zone 2 cardio for endurance and heart health can’t be ignored. * Chasing lean has become the new chasing skinny, just rebranded. Chasing Strong is the #1 priority and for most women, your leanest won’t be your happiest or healthiest. * Understanding what a balanced plate of food looks like that both serves you and will help you maintain your goals is an invaluable life skill. * You can get results even without doing barbell work. I’ve done less now than I ever have and have seen gains. Progressive overload, mechanical tension and recovery is what it takes. What are some of your takeaways on the path? ❤️ Need help getting started? Our Life Changing 12 Week Group Coaching Transformation Program goes on sale Aug 7th on my site. Details in my profile.
