i’ve always wanted to use this to explain when ppl hate on their dynamic but i’ve never been able to word it so beautifully and perfectly . this is exactly how i feel and i’ve never been able to put it into words!!! they balance each other out perfectly

i do genuinely like claire, and she's a great person, but its more about carm than it is abt claire because she's so intertwined with his family, when all we see in carm's actions is an escape or kind of rebuilding, claire representing a relationship with his family that he's not really for yet. but syd represents a quiet escape from them, a fresh start but only to his relationship to them, because he ultimately knew her from going back, he's trying to rebuilt and she's genuinely a step forward, whereas claire makes it seem too big too fast
