@the.weekend.abroad: 🆕 Since opening 10 years ago in San Francisco, Michelin-recommended MENSHO Tokyo has been a packed house with lines down the block every single day. I have maintained that the original Bay Area location is my favorite ramen in the city, and you can bet I’ve done the one-hour wait before opening. I love how thick and chewy their noodles are (described as mochi noodles on their menu) and how rich and velvety their broths are. Unlike the quaint 30-seat San Francisco location, the new East Bay location offers more space (similar to its Oakland counterpart). What makes the Walnut Creek location particularly special is that it’s the only restaurant to offer Lobster Miso Ramen outside of MENSHO’s Michelin-starred Tokyo flagship shop. This was hands down my favorite dish of the night — the broth is rich and savory perfection. Other highlights for me included their melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu Nigiri, their own MENSHO sake, and Matcha Pudding dessert. Their ingredients are delivered from Japan. MENSHO Walnut Creek is open 7 days a week for dinner (allowing them to prep the broth and handmade noodles during the day).
