Thank you @LATE BLOOMERS @rich & rox • adhd love for sharing this moment and letting us laugh at something that can be so f*cking frustrating when you’re living it 😂 These disconnects in how we process information are a huge part of the work I do with clients, and I have also had to learn how to navigate them in my own marriage, where my husband and I both have ADHD but present VERY differently. Sharing a diagnosis doesn’t mean we process things the same way, which would have been f*cking convenient. It breaks my heart when couples feel stuck, especially when both people are trying and neither feels understood. The work involves figuring out what each person can take in, hold onto, and respond to and under what conditions. Then we build systems, accommodations, and shared language that support BOTH people’s needs. We are working with the processing differences, rather than trying to fix someone’s brain and the whole relationship needs to be part of that work. One person’s diagnosis can’t become the explanation for every disconnect or leave either partner responsible for all the adapting. BOTH people deserve to be understood, and BOTH people need support they can really use. Disclaimer: This is education, not therapy or a diagnosis. ADHD, autism, and perimenopause can look very different from person to person and they’re only part of a bigger picture. Your health, history, environment, relationships, and what’s happening in your life all shape the experience. If you’re dealing with ongoing distress, conflict, or harm, work with a qualified professional. #adhd #autism #relationships #communication
