Finally ticked this off my bucket list!! 🥹 We visited the Jigokudani Monkey Park in Yamanouchi (Nagano, Japan) to see the Japanese macaque (‘snow monkeys’) and we had lots of snowfall on the day we went, which made it even more magical! It was such a special and memorable day ❄️😭 How to get there: 🚌 We were staying in Nagano, so we caught the express bus from Nagano Station to the Snow Monkey Park (~40 minutes). I’d recommend getting the first/earliest bus since it will become very crowded the later you go. Bus + Admission Tickets: 🎟️ We bought the Snow Monkey Pass (¥6,800 - includes Return Ticket to Nagano Station + Admission to Snow Monkey Park). I’d recommend getting this because it saved us time lining up for admission tickets once we got there. You can buy it at the ticket office on the bottom floor next to the bus stop (opens at 7:30am). Tours (Alternative Option): 🌟 If you’d prefer to join a tour from Tokyo or Nagano, there are lots with Klook and you can use my discount code: FEASTONITKLOOK Things to know: ✍️ There’s about a 30-40 min walk to get to the snow monkeys. It’s mainly flat, but there’s a few steps at the beginning and end. ✍️ I’d highly recommend buying crampons beforehand to help you walk without slipping, especially in snowy conditions. This was SO helpful and we could easily walk!! We bought ours from Ishii Sports in Nagano. ✍️ There are public toilets before the start of the walk and when you reach the snow monkeys. ✍️ There’s a cafe at the entrance, so you can get food after you’ve come back if you’re hungry. #snowmonkeypark #snowmonkeys #naganojapan #jigokudanimonkeypark
