my wife's mother passed away and left her and her siblings her house, my wife asked me what should WE do with the money when they sell the house. I said whatever you want, because her mom didnt leave me the house so it was up to her what she did with her inheritance.

I used to live at my dad's second house with my ex, we paid rent to my dad. When we broke up my ex told my dad he should sell the house and give him half. Dad and I still laugh about it.

I lost my dad in 2008. He had a 2001 F150 with less than 17k miles on it. My husband at the time said "We can sell it to pay off my credit card debt" Needless to say we didn't sell it.

My sister and I bought a small plot of land with our inheritance from our Mom's passing. She lives 3 hours away but visits often and I live on the plot permanently. My partner moved in when we found out that I was pregnant. Recently he ran in to a neighbour and the guy asked if he bought the land and he straight up said "No, my wife did, I just live there" 🤣 GEM ❤️

My maternal grandfather set up trusts for me and my sisters for when we turned 18 when we were little. My dad found out, and suggested to my mum that they cash them in early and have a holiday 🤦♀️

When a distant relative died, I was left some money. It wasn't much, like £600 or something. I mentioned to my then BF and suddenly his up until now perfectly functional games console was broken, slow and over heating and how he needed a new one. He was mad I didn't offer to buy it for him. I spent it on myself.

A past situationship mentioned moving to Nicaragua and living on the beach together. I loved the idea until he suggested I take out a personal loan so WE could afford it. I went by myself with my own money and stayed for 13.5 years. I only credit him with the idea. Best years of my life.

On our first (and last) date I mentioned that my dad passed when I was 10 and I received money which my mum used to by me a flat when I turned 18…. His immediate and only reaction was “i wish I had that” to which i responded “i wish i had my dad”. He didn’t even flinch!!!!

My partner and I won 80k on the pokies. He had put slightly more money in machine than I did. Excitedly we spoke of this being the start of our deposit on a home and making some big things happen after 5 years together. It stopped being our money within days and within a fortnight he had gambled it all away 😪 I left him

I had 10k given to me when I turned 30 from my parents estate. My wife immediately kept telling me how happy she was for me because now I can buy a professional drawing tablet. 😭❤️She MADE me spend the money on my dreams. I love her so much. That 10k got us through a few years of Covid scares as well.

my dad has a huge house in Jamaica (I call it my summer house) with my name on it (I'm his only kid and he's left everything to me) and my ex once said 'our summer house' I said 'who is us? you mean me' 😂 my dad only had me no one else sorry 😭
