shiseido is one of those brands that will have a celebrity endorsement but won't blast it everywhere. but shiseido unlike a lot of other brands has a long history and releases "papers" about their products

My last company paid a marketing consultant firm to see if celebrity endorsements work. My company wasn’t in the beauty industry so maybe it’s different, but the research did find celebrity endorsements work with limited effectiveness. For genuine fans of the celebrity, the endorsement gave them a favorable view of the brand, but the opposite was true for people who found the celebrity annoying. However, it was a very neutral effect for the majority of people because people only have a few celebrities they truly Stan at any one time and even if you hire a mega star, at max only 25% of your audience will Stan them. Overall my company decided celebrity endorsements were too expensive for a small, short term gain.

A lot of celebrities have mindless followers so they will buy whatever their favorite is associated with. Whats more effective is seeing them actually using it though, like if its a drink they carry around, something they have in their backroom for tour or a brand they wear.

Comments are missing the point on what “works” for a brand. Brands pay for awareness, they arent looking for direct converted sales. Premium brands like sheisedo love to spend money to establish to each generation that they are “premium”, they establish that by sponsoring and associating themselves with celebs like LISA .

Its not always conversiob they are after, sometimes its exposure, getting people to talk about the product, becoming a household name and more.

I'm confused if this is a geniune question. Celebrities get all kinds of skin treatments & are paid for their likeness to bring in more revenue. That doesn't necessarily mean it's what works or is a product they even use- that's not a new concept...
