on this day ten years ago I was five days into being sober :D [watch til the end for a super duper special treat 💚] day 1 - methadone lasts longer than heroin, so that day was mostly spent worrying about how bad it was going to be, because I knew the sickness was going to start within 24 hours. I knew it would affect my sleep, but I didn't know that night would be the last time I would sleep longer than 15 minutes at a time for the next three weeks. day 2 - the bad flu symptoms started, aching, runny eyes and nose, chills, fever, etc. but they were all much worse than when you actually have the flu. • I was no longer able to find any position to put my body into that made me feel even slightly comfortable. • it felt like my entire body had restless leg syndrome. • I was no longer able to sleep. day 3 - everything from day two felt worse. • I hadn't been able to eat for 24hrs but was throwing up bile over and over all day. • extreme anxiety and depression kicked in. day 4 - everything from day three felt worse • I still wasn't able to eat or sleep. • psychosis began and got bad very quickly. and today would have been day 5 - • all physical and mental symptoms from day four felt worse. • the depression could have definitely gotten me 5150'd. • the dissociation, derealization and paranoia was controlling everything. it felt like I had every negative emotion someone can feel all happening at the same time. • the psychosis made it so I was convinced my parents were poisoning me. I thought they were giving me something to make the withdrawal symptoms even worse as a punishment for my years of drug use. this was really bad because they were the only people in the world that I knew in real life at that time, so I could have used a lot of help from them, but if they had even offered any, I wouldn't have been able to accept it. ⬇️🫲👁️👄👁️ 🫩😵‍💫🥶🥵🤢😰😵 the best way to describe it is total agony mentally and physically, and the symptoms hadn't even peaked yet. #addiction #recovery #sober #MentalHealth #fyp
