@jamageddon: There's a lot more to thermal paste application than just choosing a pattern, and consequences of ignoring it can lead to worse CPU temps. #thermalpaste #pcbuilding #techtok #cpucooling

Look up the thermalright method, it’s the funniest one out there but it makes the most sense for that specific thermal paste

Thermal Paste is when people get to pretend they’re alchemists, they take it very seriously lol

Optimal cooling comes from the highest surface area possible for heat transfer with the thinnest medium to conduct through (a material with very high conductivity like duronaut makes the thickness less important) and the optimal dot locations also depend on the architecture of the chip you’re installing as not the entire IHS gets hot. If thickness didn’t matter people wouldn’t be shaving their IHS

Omg reddit...Reddit is the worst for information. Putting to much past doesn't hurt unless you get the past on the motherboard or inside the CPU. Some AMD CPUS like the AMD Ryzen 7 and 9 series have openings on top of the CPUs for better heat transfer for cooling. So in other words don't drench the thermal past where it spreads to the motherboard or on the pins of the CPU or the gaps of the CPU where it can fall in the CPU.

I just used the tiny grooves on a butter knige to spread ot once, worked for that semi-old i5

Due to the coolers mounting pressure excess will be squeezed out so the only negative with too much is that there will be a mess

I’ve always used the ‘buttered bread’ method of putting a paper-thin layer across the entire IHS and it’s always worked great for me. Stable temps and reliable overclocks.

I have never, ever used any methid at all. When I assembled my first cpu we didn't have tiktok ornyoutube to talk of "my method is the best". I always just applied a smudge of thermal paste and let the cooler spread the paste. Also, I have never repasted a CPU. My rule is, once the cooler and cpu are mounted and pasted do not touch it again unless it is to replace a part. With this in mind, I've always assembled mynown PCs since the 286 era (late 80s, 90s) and never had a computer malfunction or perform poorly.

This depends on the viscosity of the thermal paste.

Can you make a video of what’s the best method to remove a CPU? Specifically AM5 I changed so many of them until recently when Changing one I dropped it in the socket and I think nobody talks about it
