@sendmummies: DLA class the average night time period as 11pm-7am (although this is technically from when the last supporting adult goes to bed, to when the first supporting adult rises in the morning). As this can be difficult to prove, we generally stick with the average. So, if your child is not falling asleep until past 11pm, or they are rising earlier than 7am - this is classed as night time. Criteria for HRC consists of 2 points, and you have to satisfy both.... 1. That they require attention to bodily functions throughout both the day and night 2. That they are waking either multiple times a night, or once for a prolonged period per night For the majority of nights. Multiple times is classed as 3 or more A prolonged period is classed as 20minutes or more 'Attention to' means care - care covers physical help, assistance, guidance, encouragement, prompting and supervision Bodily functions covers anything to do with how the body works, like breathing, eating, drinking, hearing, seeing, walking, sitting, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, toileting, moving, communicating, standing, reading, etc. #applyforDLA #NightTimeCareNeeds #SleepDifficulties #SleepDisturbance #SENDparents
