I worked 3rd shift for 24 yrs. I used to call my Dad just to stay awake on my way home. that was his love language....weather.... politics and telling me how to find someone to fix home projects

My dad has been gone for 11 years. He was of the silent generation, but he showed us he loved us in a lot of different ways. He was not an easy man. He was a hard man the kind that get up work all day. Come home and work on a farm. He worked hard and he asked us to do the same but when we really needed or wanted something he showed up he asked the Lil questions that meant a lot. He loved us and we loved him back.

I was watching CBS Sunday Morning yesterday with my parents and a story about a camp for young men who lost their father comes one. I started a new conversation so I could ignore that story because the day I loss my Father gets closer everyday as he is 73.

I think our fathers were raised in hard times, and their love language is different, but will tell you this I never doubted he loved me…..as always so beautifully stated. Thank you for these beautiful words and a day that is very hard for this broken hearted daughter who miss her dad everyday.

What you say is so true for me in so many ways I can’t count them. I thought about my father a great deal today for many reasons. As a child I learned and developed my thinking and morals through him. He passed when I was out of college and I just retired. During this challenging time I constantly wish I could speak with him about what is going on.

You are so lucky! I lost my Dad when I was 13 months old. Still, I took similar examples from a Grandpa, Uncles, a Brother-in-Law (and his Father). Fatherly examples are all around.
