skillbridge! & being personable goes a long way. i did four months of skillbridge, got an apartment & a car. applied for jobs during my skillbridge and had a job offer before my EAS. i applied for probably like 10, and got offers for two. apply for veteran friendly jobs or do skillbridge & stay with the company.

I just enlisted recently BECAUSE of that reason, a lot of company’s refuse to let go of bad mgmt due to favoritism, jobs not wanting to hire ppl so they save money, jobs not wanting to give better pay but have no problem giving extra work the list goes on 😭

For me when I got it it took about a month or 2 to find a job. But the job I have now they hired me due to my military experience. I work on a emergency response team now

As someone who used to hire people, I actively looked for veterans, especially Marines. Your MOS matters, but the qualities you develop matter even more. Showing up on time, learning quickly, taking responsibility, working as a team, and leading when needed are traits employers value in every industry. There is a bright future in the civilian world, and your military service absolutely gives you an advantage if you’re willing to keep learning and working hard.

Little different for me, I’m 18 just quit my job of 4 years because I leave for Navy basic in 2 weeks. However at this job I was making on average 2-3$ an hour more than all the adults there. It was a fast food job but I was at management level. I consistently got job offers on indeed.com from fast food, post offices, bakeries, and other customer service places within a 30 mile radius of me 😭 obviously everyone’s experiences is different. But if I wasn’t enlisted then I would have plenty of entry level jobs to switch too

It’s brutal but not impossible. One of the executives I interviewed with ultimately didn’t give me the job but he referred me to a head hunter who got me interviews directly with a number of companies. I always recommend if you’re a vet to use your GI Bill for a traditional bachelors program at a “real” college. Not an online diploma mill. This gives you time to figure life out.
