@clarkybateman: I like individuals but I dislike people. People belong to groups. They melt away the individual for the sake of the collective. A group shares a belief or belief system; they assimilate it into their individual “identity” and anyone who questions this system, or seeks change is ostracized and outcast for being a threat to the group ego. The norms of the group creates a new moral standing, a new set of performances for those who partake in it to uphold. I get sick of seeing these moral high grounds, the performances people put on to maintain their standing in their collective group identity, and the weakness that lies in their desperation to feel like they belong. Individuals show you an authentic lens of how they’ve experienced life. You can see how they’ve existed, thought, perceived, and they have a strong and admirable sense of self. Their character is abundant and clear. Having common interests and beliefs with others that stems directly from your personal experience, that you do not compromise in order to fit in, is to partake in a group rather than let it consume you.
