@thatgirlshaae: Nobody prepares you for the way children grieve. My almost 10 year old son is sitting in his room right now, listening to the same Oliver Tree songs on repeat. Not because he enjoys them at the moment, but because they hurt. Because somehow being close to the pain feels closer to the person he misses. He’s crying. He’s withdrawn. He’s deep in his feelings. And as his mum, all I want to do is take that hurt away. But I’m learning that grief isn’t something we fix. It’s something we sit beside. People underestimate how deeply children feel things. They think because they’re young they’ll move on quickly. What I’m seeing is the opposite. Children don’t hide their grief the way adults do. They don’t bury it under work, bills, responsibilities, distractions, or pretending they’re okay. They just feel it. Fully. Watching him reminds me that grief is simply love with nowhere to go. And tonight, my boy is carrying a lot of love. Rest in peace Oliver. I’ve found myself watching so many clips of you lately and honestly, I didn’t realise just how hilarious you were. The world saw the music, but there was so much personality behind it too.
