Did the reporter mean to say that it “used to be opt-out but now it’s opt in?” Because that would mean that it used to be something that users were automatically opted into whether they wanted to & now have the option to opt into… but based on the reporting it’s the opposite; that it used to be opt-in (you could choose to opt-in to the sharing) but recently they changed in to opt-out (you’re automatically registered without realizing & have to manually opt-out… THAT is what would be the security & privacy breech.
