The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ gave us a clear instruction: 'Do not speak ill of the dead, for they have reached what they forwarded.' Once a soul passes, their record is closed with Allah. It is not our job to sit in judgment over their flaws. In Surah Al-Hujurat, Allah compares backbiting to eating the flesh of your dead brother. If backbiting the living is a major sin, speaking ill of someone who can no longer defend themselves or seek forgiveness is even worse.
