That isn’t really accurate. Information travelled slowly, but word travelled regardless. People at that time weren’t completely isolated. Often, especially those in the cities, knew somewhat what happened on the continent and neighbouring countries. Traders carried news. But also the church who at that time was the largest organisation in Europe, delivering news and messages far and wide.
