For people saying “it’s only a few days etc etc.” I’d like to remind you some people have ailments where they can’t regulate their body temperatures properly or like for me I take tablets which hinder that process and have made me incredibly ill when it’s been this hot previously. It is that serious and this video and ones like it are incredibly important and informative.

I’ve found that it’s coolest at around 4 to 6am so thats the best time to have the window open. It’s lovely to just chill on my bed as the sun rises.

DO NOT PUT TINFOIL AN THE INSIDE OF YOUR WINDOW! I you put it on the window put it on the outside, if it's on the inside the glass in the window can break due to the heat being trapped between the tinfoil and the window.

I remember saying this statement when I was child - “if you open window, wouldn’t the hot air come inside?” Everyone laughed at me 😂

i would recommend ‘blanc de meudon’ or your local equivalent to cover the windows, it’s basically a paste you apply on the outside of windows with a sponge, it’s really effective to keep the sunlight out (it’s currently sold out everywhere in france) and really easy to remove

okay soak a blanket or towel and hang it so it covers an open window. the heat will dry the towel but the process will cool the air coming through it.

As a neurodivergent, chronically ill Texan in the UK: you can also get a migraine cap which can be cooled in the fridge. Then put it on. THEY. ARE. HEAVENLY. Even if you don’t get migraines, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

If it gets bad, sit with your feet in a bucket of cold water. It'll help instantly. Cold on the wrists, inner arms and legs and back of the neck. Use a fan with icepacks. Get as low as you can in the building. Cover up with loose cotton or linen clothing if you have to go out. It's better than being uncovered as it creates shade around your body and helps wick sweat away. If it all gets too bad at home, find a supermarket or shopping centre with air con

Spanish here, thus I have had my fair share of heatwaves before. Taking a quick shower before sleeping really helps. The water can't be cold, it should be temperate. I know it being cold it's tempting but if you shower with water colder than the environment then you will just feel hot when you go out
