They won’t do it. We subsidize the automakers for a reason. So their overpaid union workers have job. IMO let competition destroy them

My wife and family are Chinese and even though my wife is here now she lived in China for 45 years and of course the rest of my family is in China and I know multiple people there. The reason why Tesla does so well is also a big factor just like BMW and Benz. It’s a flex. It’s a foreign brand even though it’s made in China. The culture still sees brands like BYD not on par with Tesla just because it is Tesla, but that is starting to erode so if the Chinese vehicles like BYD came over to the states, it would definitely erode not only Tesla, but other auto manufacturers

Tesla spent 20 years building EVs as a single company. China has hundreds(!!!) of EV brands because of massive state support, big subsidies, cheap financing and an entire industrial policy behind it, polluted ground because of mines and a 996 culture and no bureaucracy and a one party system. Comparing the two as if they're competing under the same conditions is big time misleading !

Chinese EV companies can manufacture in US to sell but they won’t because average auto employees is 100K salary.
