i genuinely think jai fell first, but something must have happened between them that made him draw the line and convince himself that they could only ever be friends. jai said in the pilot that he had already seen pik on tv before, and honestly, what if that was the beginning of everything for him? maybe seeing pik was one of the reasons he eventually wanted to become an idol too, not necessarily because he consciously wanted to be with pik from the start, but because somewhere along the way, pik became someone he looked up to and cared about deeply. and what if jai had actually liked him long before we realized? what if there was a point where jai was ready to confess, but pik already had someone back then? especially since it was mentioned that pik hasn't dated anyone since first year. it makes me wonder about everything that happened before that. what if there was something there, but the timing was simply wrong? because i don't think jai became a player just because that's who he is. i feel like there's a possibility that being with different people was his way of avoiding the one person he actually couldn't have. like, instead of confronting his feelings for pik, he kept distracting himself, convincing himself that if he kept moving from one person to another, eventually he'd stop feeling the same way. maybe that's why he was so determined to keep their relationship within the boundaries of friendship. because sometimes, when you've liked someone for too long and something happened that made you believe you could never be with them, it's easier to say, "we're just friends," than to admit that you still care way more than you should. and honestly, that would make jai's character so much more heartbreaking to me. because what if all those relationships weren't proof that he didn't know how to love? what if they were actually proof that he was trying desperately not to love the one person who mattered the most? maybe he wasn't playing with people's feelings because he didn't care. maybe he was trying to run away from his own.
