I mean you can’t exactly blame the guy, he’s on a one way 88 year trip trapped with automatons that get buggy he had no way of knowing another person would wake up and he’d already been awake alone for a full year. All things considered they should have a safe guard that awaken all qualified repair personnel when the ship starts to malfunction
