Hi. I have dyscalculia too!! I have NEVER ONCE seen ANY form of talk about it, nor any sort of representation in this way. It took me so long to understand that I can’t comprehend the numbers at all. it’s all jumbled.. I can’t understand, even if I try my damndest. I used to sob as a child wondering what was wrong with me when I got told the same things as you. I had an ADHD diagnosis, and then was told because my meds calmed me down so much i had “middle child syndrome” it took me until 21 to seek out a diagnosis. I have ADHD and dyscalculia, too. I see you, and you see me more than anyone ive ever had the displeasure of trying to explain my troubles to. Thank you.

I have Autism and Inattentive ADHD, and I constantly have to deal with people being skeptical about my diagnoses because im not hyperactive enough, or Im too "high functioning" to have autism. People dont see the internal struggle I go through on the daily.

my mom got me and my brother assessed for ADHD at the same time. We were both diagnosed. She claimed I faked the diagnosis. I was 8.

i see so many stories from people who were undiagnosed/diagnosed late, but the thing some don’t realize is a diagnosis doesn’t always make people understand. but all that matters is that you begin to understand yourself and give yourself the patience that others may not feel the need to give you <3

I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder two years ago and when explaining the symptoms and how they can develop in teenage years, it made me realize how all those times i was "moody", "angsty", "having mood swings" and "angry" it was because of my BPD and not because I was just a moody teenager. I'm 23 now and recently my sister has talked to me about her own mental health and how my mom is taking it seriously and getting her help and it's making me sit and wonder "why didn't you want to help me?"

I was diagnosed last year with ADHD. My mom told me for years that “You aren’t like your brother (who has ADHD), you’re good at school and don’t struggle like he does.” When I got the diagnosis, all I got was “Oh.” No sorry. No acknowledgement. Just got mad when I told her I was getting medication. I relate to this very well. I’m very sorry, friend.

I hate the stereotype that people with adhd cant finish school or struggle with school. My severe adhd makes studying hard, yes, and i struggle with social cues, but i was top of my class in high school

I have Dyscalculia too, it’s so difficult to explain that to people. No one understands why I just can’t get it and they get mad at me when I don’t accept their help, when I remember being laughed at by the people that “helped” me so vividly. I’ve got high functioning autism, ADHD (adhd or add they couldn’t really tell because that diagnosis was when I was a child) depression, hearing loss, and probably more undiagnosed shit. However whatever I have learned most of all is that every SINGLE disorder has a spectrum, every diagnosis has different symptoms, even with blindness. There’s color blindness, complete blindness, partial blindness and a few more things. Every disability is a spectrum and no matter where you range on it you are valid for struggling.

When I was younger my step-dad told me I couldn't have ADHD because he has ADHD and he knows I don't. I was diagnosed last year. I displayed the most obvious symptoms throughout my childhood. I wonder often why it took so long for my family to want to get me help.

I've tried telling my parents I think I have add/adhd and they don't believe me. my dad said "I think you just need to get a book, open it, and read." and "you just finished all your chores today real easy! I think you're fine" I was in a good mood, and I had a burst of motivation, thats why I got everything done. school is so difficult and I hate it💔 but I guess I have to wait till Im an adult to get tested. and I know how. difficult that is.
